Chances are, you know someone who is afflicted with IBS or IBD. I personally can think of three people off the top of my head who are good friends or close family who struggle with one of these two conditions on a daily basis. Read on to find out exactly what IBS is and how it differs from its close cousin, IBD.
IBS is noted with symptoms including:
- Constipation
- Bloating
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal spasm
- Occasional presence of mucus in stools
- Pain during bowel movements
IBD, on the other hand, includes diseases such as Chron’s Disease and ulcerative colitis. Symptoms of IBD include:
- Fever
- Chronic bloody diarrhea with mucus
- Malaise
- Abdominal pain
- Weight loss
- Possible anemia due to blood loss
