If you know someone who suffers from fecal incontinence (or if you suffer from it yourself), you can easily understand how frustrating of a condition it can be. There’s embarrassment, the feeling that you can’t live your life normally, and there can be loads of skin irritation.
So of course you would want to do all you could to prevent
yourself from being struck with fecal incontinence. Here are three tips that
can help to prevent this debilitating condition:
- Fiend off constipation. Sometimes chronic constipation can be the cause of fecal incontinence. To prevent constipation, drink plenty of water, eat high-fiber foods, and get more exercise.
- Don’t strain! Straining while on the potty can lead to the weakening of your anal sphincter muscles, which, in turn, can lead to fecal incontinence.
- Manage that diarrhea. Sometimes diarrhea is to blame for fecal incontinence. To prevent diarrhea, treat or eliminate the cause of the diarrhea itself.
Aren’t you glad that you can do something to help to prevent fecal incontinence?
