Are you going to be helping a friend or loved one with their first enema? You are such a good person. If you’re inexperienced at administering enemas, the following tips can help to make it a hassle-free experience for both you and the recipient.
- Lubricate your partner’s anus/rectum—or have him/her lubricate their own. Be sure that the interior of the anus gets lubricated well. I hear that a finger works just fine.
- If you lubricated your partner’s bum, then you shouldn’t have a hard time inserting the nozzle. You’ll know how much pressure is required.
- Hang up the enema bag about 1 or 1 ½ feet above your partner’s bum.
- Slowly open up the clamp. Never try to give the entire enema all at once. All in all, the procedure can take up to 15 minutes.
- Watch your partner for signs of cramping. If cramping does occur, slow the flow until the cramping passes.
- Listen to your partner.
- Massage your partner’s belly. This will encourage even more cleansing.
- Have an evacuation plan. You should most likely carry the bag for your partner until they reach the toilet or tub.
